Daytrip Time

The cold weather broke and some beautiful days have been in the forecast, so I hopped in my car and took off for the day.
I have officially started my day trip season for 2014.

Parkville, Missouri
Historic Downtown Parkville is filled with an eclectic array of shops each offering a unique shopping experience.  Art, antiques, one of a kind boutiques, gadgets, home decor, fashion, embellishments, or collectibles...It can be found in Parkville.
Lots of fun places to eat and drink.
I took the picture below. Just look at that lousy grayish/whitish sky.
I've finally learned to rid my pics of this and replace it with some kind of a blur. I did a night blur on this photo to make it more interesting. Dang I should have posted the "after" pic so you could see it too.
OOoh well...next time I'll be more creative with my post.
I'm dieting, so I didn't stop here for any treats.
Using I-635 North, cross the Missouri River, stay to the left, and exit on MO Highway 9 West just after the Argosy Casino. Park University and Parkville are only a couple of miles down MO Highway 9 along the Missouri River...
Yep...right on the Missouri River.
On Saturdays they play old time music (60's hahaha) and have hot rods to look at.
I'm going back for a Saturday night...real soon!
I did stop in one of the little shops and got a cup of coffee.
Lucy was waiting for me in the car, so I went outside and sat with her and sipped on coffee.
I do enjoy my coffee while day tripping.
ommmm

This looks like a great day trip! I haven't been to Parkville in many years. I'm looking forward to a field trip there with you this summer.

Blurring the background is a great photoshop technique. I have to be careful not to overdo it, ha, ha.

Cathy...we're going to have some grand day trips! You taught me to blur the background...I too have to be careful not to overdo it. However, I hate that grayish/white Kansas sky!!!

Hi Fly, I love retirement!!! I'm kindof used to it now. Did you ever get a new camera??? There's so many cool places near where you're from. You should get lots of pics and a post now n then.

I just love that red wicker.

Isn't it nice to be able to up and go whenever you want to? Getting old is the good life!

I love day trips and you had an interesting one. Isn't it nice to be able to just get in your car and go and not worry about sliding off the road.
You took a great buddy for the road.

Patti, Lucy loves going with me, but soon it will be too hot to leave her in the car. Most places don't allow dogs unless they're service dogs. She makes me happy, but I don't think that's considered "service". I could take her leash, but she pulls so hard (wants to run everywhere) that I couldn't take any pics.

What fun trips you take. Just you and Lucy. She's a great companion. Wish I still drank coffee. I am mesmerized by the smell of it.
What's the winter weather like in southern Missouri and Kansas? I mean how cold does it get? I would like a middle state weather that still has a change of seasons but milder than here. I don't want all hot. I really found a lot of fault with Florida (I hate to use the word, hate... haha)

Manzanita, Lucy is the very best companion!!! I'm in the Kansas City area. It gets very cold/very hot. We get ice storms to tornadoes. I don't like the hot humid summers.... The rest is fine.

How nice that Lucy is taken along on your day trips. Most dogs seem to love car trips. And how thoughtful you sipped your coffee in the car with her. The town of Parkville sounds really active. Fun photos! -- barbara

Picked up a nice sack of beans from Kaui, HI today while enjoying a few cups. Parkville sounds real fun.

Barbara, I love taking Lucy with me. She's my furbaby... It is a fun little town. I enjoyed it.

Ellen, Love retirement and love taking pics. Spring is coming so I will have to stick around and rake leaves, clean up the yard and plant...but that's fun too!

Steve, Oooh my...Hawaii!!! Now that would be fun. Must see pics...
