Making a Fortune

So here's what I've been doing...
I've been on Zazzle making things out of my photos...fun!!!
Pillows and Tee shirts and hats and aprons and place mats and napkins.
Flip flops and  watches and jewelry
 My own stamps!!!
Coat racks from some of my horse pics and also from some of my flower pics.
 Books and calendars
 Switch plates

All sorts of cards.
So I'm retired, but still working? you ask?
Well...I haven't made one daggum dime yet, but have hopes of making a vast fortune. I was getting ready to make some thank you cards and got to looking...something like 7000 cards on the site...So how can I make mine special so someone might buy it???
Guess I've got to start taking naked pictures...Oooh...not of me! That wouldn't sell...
hahaha
I think I'm just staying busy, but one can dream...
ommmmm

Hi Carolyn, Oooh isn't that the truth! A friend of mine said that we just need to find our niche. hmmm...is old a niche???

Dreams are fun and every once in awhile they happen.

HAhaaaa I don't think old is a niche... well? if we could package and sell it... but then that's just silly ... hahaa

When I had my shop, I looked for individuals who came up with great stuff... one woman dipped nature in gold... she was very expensive but I liked it ~ didn't order too much because that's taking a huge chance with inventory.

She made earrings and pins and whatever .. out of rosebuds and pine cones, acorns... whatever... her coating was 14k? ... can't remember but it was real gold.

I think your photography and what you did is wonderful... I don't recall seeing anything like that before.. I haven't shopped in so long though... but your ideas seem quite unique!

I always beat myself up because I didn't come up with the Pet Rock thing... wasn't that something!?

or the chia pets ... gotta be a way... just gotta

Fly, Right time, right place, right product. My sister's husband used to make fun of his little brother who would get up on Saturday mornings and make healthy dog treats... Ever heard of Three Dog Bakery. He's been in People Magazine and Forbes and is now a kazillionaire. Then there's the guy that started out selling bait in the side of an old liquor store in Springfield, Mo...Now Bass Pro. I just heard of the lazy cousin of a guy I used to work with. His lazy cousin only wanted to surf and swim in California. When he decided to write his memoirs, the family laughed because all he ever did was swim and surf. Ever heard of Baywatch??? Family ain't laughing at the lazy cousin now!!! hahaha!!! So I'm dreamin big!!!hahaha

Carolyn, Way back in the 70's I wish I had gotten stock in Birkenstocks. I loved them, but everybody thought they were ugly. I wore them anyway and still do... Now everybody has heard of them and has a pair. There's other things I thought of but never followed up on...dang!!! I have a girlfriend that sells cards on Zazzle almost daily. We laugh because her commission on the sale is so small...like $10 for 50 cards sold. I'm not laughing because $10 is better than a poke in the eye!!!

Dear Turquoisemoon, in response to your response to one of my earlier comments!!!!!!!--no, I haven't found an agent yet. But I've put the dream out into the Universe as you have done. Let's trust for ourselves and one another that our dream will be realized. Peace.

It does look like fun, and you probably could make money off of it also. I think you would be great at greeting cards.

Dee, Good for you!!! Your posts are so interesting. I'm sure your dreams will be realized... Too much talent not to be noticed.

Rubye, Wouldn't that be fun??? I'm trying to come up with some fun things to say on a birthday card for my boyfriend and family. I just hope I'm not the only one that buys my cards...

Your work is very nice. Hang in there -- you'll find a niche and do fine. I knew a woman that took photos of outhouses and linked up with a gift store to sell them. She did well as she made frames for them out of old wood. Not suggesting you do the same -- just thought when I saw them that it was a novel idea I would not have thought of -- she sold quite well in the shop though. Anyway I know you'll do well -- barbara

Barbara, I'm having fun! I may explore some other ways of selling photos. Mostly I'm having fun and staying active. I need to get outdoors, but it's been so cold and windy. I take a photo class and the instructor assigns homework. I've got 3 pics I need to take for my next class. Action pics...Lucy dog will be my model. I really enjoy photography and know you do too. You're really good at it...

Your items are wonderful! I'm on Etsy too and I only average about two sales a week. I guess it's more of a hobby than anything else! Loved your stories of those bezillionaires!

CraveCute, It sure keeps us busy and out of trouble...well sometimes!

This looks like so much fun! I especially love the idea of making pillows with your own photos, and notebooks, and playing cards, and greeting cards, and on and on. The possibilities are endless. I hope you do make a fortune :)

Hi Martha, It is so much fun! I've been making Birthday cards and today I've been working on Valentine cards. Sooo much fun, but kind of goofy.
