The Moose Out Front Should Have Told You...

BF and I had been planning our vacation for quite awhile. He likes waiting till calving is done and all mowing is completed. This year he bought us a 5th wheel...his first camping experience.
So...right off the bat, the water tank fell off right before we left.
Then, a ladder he had put in the truck to help him hook up the 5th wheel got stolen.
Then the parks closed. (even a sidewalk was posted, "closed"...???)
Then it rained and snowed...and did I mention wind??? Lots of wind...
Then the trucks starter went out in Jackson.
We did get one day in Yellowstone...
The camper is wonderful. Easy to set up and...warm!!!
He worked on the truck in the rain and then in this snow...finally got it towed and repaired.
Remember John Candy's small role in "Vacation"???
"The park's closed. The moose out front should have told ya."
ommmm

You found a lot of trouble. The shut down is keeping me from going to a national bird sanctuary. I tent camp and got stuck one year in an ice storm. I came back 2 weeks later to take my ruined tent down after a thaw, it was stuck to the ground.

Kittie...We had a good time in spite of everything. We did fine. I really felt sorry for so many others... This "closing of the parks" is ridiculous. So many tourists...so many businesses..just a mess!

Linda, We really had a good time and lots of laughter. BF just takes things in stride...

Debra, It could have been. You just got to make the best with what is dealt you. We got one day in Yellowstone. We really enjoyed Cody...oooh that museum is wonderful. He loves looking at any kind of farmland...yuk, but he likes it soooo....

Steve, Sheesh..that's right!!! I was going to try to hit Squaw Creek
next week...but it'll be closed too. I used to backpack and tent camp...nope! not anymore... hahaha

Tell us -- is your husband still sold on camping?? Sorry, but I was tempted to smile at your situation -- such things happen when least expected or as my mother would say (or was it my dad) bad things ALWAYS happen when least expected. -- barbara

Barbara, I think he really enjoyed it. We figure we'll always remember this trip. The good times just blend together, but the "adventures?" stand out. The next time's gotta be better...???!!!

Sorry bout all that TMoon. Spring is coming.

Fly, Thanks! We made the best of it. I was really hoping for some good photo shoots, but it was cold, rainy and snowy... I'd hop out of the truck then hop back in...didn't take my time and my photos show it. oooh well....

Dear Turquoisemoon, I don't know that movie although I surely did like John Candy when he was on the television comedy show--I don't think it was Saturday Night Live, I think it was the one produced in Canada.

So many mishaps on this trip of yours and yet you had a good time, took some evocative photographs and slept in a warm camper with snow on the picnic table outside. One of my all-time favorites things is sleeping under warm blankets with flannel sheets when a winter storm sleets the windows. Peace.
