Full of Hot Air

I've never seen hot air balloons close up.
A local festival brought lots of them to my area this summer.
I got to thinking...I've never seen a hot air balloon (even far away) that didn't make me smile.
Above is Noah's Ark. It took forever to blow up.
It was the all round favorite.
I couldn't believe how close together they were.
or how big they were.
They explained that these were the racing balloons.
That evening, the barriers were dropped and all were allowed to go out on the field.
They would count down..10-9-8-7-etc, then all the balloons would fire up. OOoohh wow!!!
There were probably 30some balloons here.
I guess several hundred go to Albuquerque for their festival..
but this is KC, and they were almost in my backyard!
Ommmmm

Balloons are fun. They were around year long in Steamboat. Make for great pictures and your last one at night I think is very good.

Those balloon are gorgeous, but I am too chicken to want to try one out. I wanted to thank you so very much for your kind words on Soldier's passing. That was so sweet of you. -- Inger

Debra, I took tons of pics...just didn't want to bore anyone. They were awesome. And needless to say, there was even a KU one...Jayhawk and all (very cool)

Crave Cute, I went on Friday night all by myself to take photos. Saturday night we took grandkids...sheesh!they had fun.

Fly, I took lots of pics. The evening burn was simply beautiful. I had never seen that before. I got some fun pics, but none that were "great".

Inger, Me either...I'm a chicken too! I read your posts quite often, but hearing of the loss of your furbaby just broke my heart. You have my sympathy...

Martha, They were very colorful and exciting. The evening burn (I think that's what it's called) was simply amazing.

Thanks, Lyn, for stopping by. I know what you mean about history moving up on life's ladder. At first I didn't want to walk on Omaha Beach as it had been such a killing field and seemed disrespectful . . . hard to explain . . . but I felt a tug I couldn't resist and allowed the waves to lap my feet . . . I'm really energized to do these posts . . . owe those guys a few . . .

Kittie, That was a great post. Good reading about it, but it makes you feel sad at the same time. Yes! we certainly do owe those guys more than an a few. Your post was respectful and informative. I could tell you really cared...

Dear Turquoisemoon, you've been away awhile and I get to each of the blogs I follow only once a week, so I missed your return. But I'm glad that my first reading of your blog upon your return is of the hot-air balloons. They are so astounding and I just feel gleeful about the Noah's ark one.

I used to live in Stillwater, MInnesota, which is a river town. During the summer, almost every day, for many years, I'd hear the hiss of the air and look up and see people waving at me from balloons. The St. Croix River Valley was a favorite spot for ballooning. Peace.

Dee, Ooh I understand. I'm still not caught up with the blogs I follow. I had never seen any up close...it was amazing. I evening burn was incredible... I had no idea that they'd let us go out and see everything up close. I loved it. It was really fun. Ooh they were at the Great Mall out here near where I live.
