Ahhh...Fall

A huge temperature change...from the near 100's to 62.
I'm even wearing slippers. My feet are cold.
I got my hair cut yesterday, which happens to be near my favorite nursery. I stopped in to see the fall colors...mmmmm!!!
Fall is my favorite season, then spring, then winter and least of all is summer. August usually bums me out. The sky is that grayish white color with no clouds. Dry and hot. This year, it seems, we had an entire summer of August.
This unusually dry/hot summer has ruined many trees and bushes. I see dead ones everywhere I go.
Tree removal would be a good little employment gig if I was needing work.
I'm wondering what Mother Nature has in store for this fall??? Will we have color or not???
I love the smell of fall. I love the crunch of leaves under my feet. I love listening to it rain and the winds of change that are now present. I love the shade in fall and how the sun now softens the view.
off to meditate...
ommmm

Oh for the love of fall. Hopefully, we will have one this year but who knows. The flowers are beautiful.

The fall colors in your mum plant photos are beautiful. Unfortunately, we really didn't have a spring this year. It went from winter to summer in a flash. Sure hope that next summer is not a repeat. Too bad about the shrub and tree die off -- I will have to be more observant around here to see if this is happening here -- barbara

Rubye, Ooh I hope there's some color this fall. Weren't those flowers beautiful??? Didn't buy any...just looked and took pics.

Ashling, A nursery is always a fun place to go...with or without a camera. I really love going there during basketball season, when it's cold outside. Sometimes just gotta go smell the earth.

Barbara, You should see all the dead trees/shrubs around here. It was so dry I only mowed twice this entire spring/summer. Normally I have to mow every week??? It's been awful...

It's my favorite time of year, too. The leaves are quickly turning and falling. It wasn't the most colorful and lively summer for my flower beds. Next summer.... :) Now, I'll enjoy the slow down and the softness in the air.

Teresa, My yard is a complete disaster. Most of my plants have died and I have one tree that must be cut down. Leaves have been falling for the last month, actually. No...not pretty, but they now have that fall crunch. We need moisture to give it that smell I love. Will take what I can get...

Debra, Aren't they wonderful. Normally I plant some around the house and add a pumpkin here and there. Not going to this year. It's still just too dry around here. I'm still feeling the need to conserve water...

UPDATE....It's now 58 degrees. Last spring? I went from heater to AC. Wondering if I'm now going to go from AC to heater??? Yikes...

We've had cooler weather already here too and as I drive around the neighborhood the wooded lots are much thinner of plants from the drought we had this Spring and I have been wondering like you what the Autumn and Winter will be like. Used to be one of my past times to visit nurseries and walk around, not many near here that are much good, but I think a visit to a park or some such is in order thanks for the reminder.
