Swamp People

At work today, we welcomed the Swamp People.

The Swamp People came to Bass Pro today...
People camped out in the parking lot last night...all night at the store, just to be first in line.
Two ladies even spent the night in a duck blind...
It was 7 degrees last night.

There were no parking spots.
People parked waaaay up the street and walked to get to the store.
I wouldn't walk that far, in this cold, to even see the president, maybe to see Robert Redford...but, for the Swamp people???

I had no clue there were that many rednecks in the KC area, but I guess I was wrong.
Now, nothing against rednecks...BF is lying on the sofa (half asleep) listening to the Redneck Comedy Hour.
Welcome to my world...today.
Should I say "ommmmmmm"??? or should I say "Get er done"???

LOL. Well, if the red neck is Red Green, I'm a fan, but I have no idea who the Swamp People are and I think that's OK. I live in what appears to be a less than enlightened area and it's frustrating sometimes. I feel for you.

Trust me...not knowing who the Swamp People are is a good thing :)

I'm guessing swamp people are rather like hill people, some call them hillbillies, around here. They speak their own language and usually are not the brightest people in the world. Rather than the hills, swamp people come from the swamps?

Rubye Jack...honestly, I've never watched them. I think they hunt gators in the swamp on TV. They were a big hit at the store...people were lined up outside for hours.

I'm not entirely sure who Swamp People are, but I'm guessing a reality show about people who live in the bayous of Louisiana or the Everglades of Florida? Anyway, they clearly have a devoted following!

They certainly do... I may have to check it out!

U have bin edukated. They're everywhere and proud of - well we won't go there.

I don't what these SPeople are but say something in the Cajun arena of Redneckastan. Not picking -just saying.

This was fun.

Steve, I must admit, I'm now on a mission to watch their program..at least once. Who knows, I may become a devoted fan???

Fly, This is certainly changing my opinion of KC. The city is trying, desperately, to rid any hint of it's cow town image. Thinkin it wants to be seen as a mini Chicago. But, look what happens when their is lack of leadership??? hahaha...!!!

I have only vaguely heard of Swamp People. Are there even swamps in KC or is it just the rather rugged way of life that appeals? I would think they would be big time here in the Ozarks.

LOL Now that is a new name I have never heard used for rednecks!! LOL I would have thought maybe Cagians...yep they are some of my ancestors!! LOL...left Nova Scotia for the swamps of Louisiana....that is who I thought you were talking about...learn something new everyday!! :D

Patti, Nope...no swamps in KC.
Ok...I did some research. It's a reality series on the history channel. It follows the day to day activities for for these guys (Cajuns)...so Linda, sounds like you may be right. They live in the Atchafalaya River basin swamp in Louisiana. They make their living hunting alligators. Why the KC attraction??? I have no idea, but as Debra said, "they clearly have a devoted following.

I'm for sure going to watch this program...sometime...

Clearly they have amassed a great following - who knew that 'gator wrasslin is now such a coveted skill!

Jane, it was amazing! I was shocked...this is Kansas City, the mid west!!! farmland not swamps. I never, ever expected this crowd.

Looks like it was a big event.

turquoisemoon said...

Randy...it sure turned out to be one. Go figure!!
