Bad Chihuahua

LD is my very old, obese, deaf and blind chihuahua.
Lately he's been scaring me...
I find him on his back, spread eagle, eyes wide open...sound asleep.
I say his name, out of habit, but then I remember that he's deaf.
This just scares me. I keep thinking that he's gone. I stop whatever I'm doing to see if he's breathing. If I pet him, it scares him...
If I don't pet him, it scares me...
When he's awake, life is good...he eats, goes outside, and even plays a bit, but when he sleeps...
Snoring is a good thing...
LD...please snore!!!

oh dear, poor odd/stinkin' cute little LD ... poor you ... this is the rough part of taking on pets :(
Spread out on his back, just means he feels very secure and comfortable ... if he did pass that way, it would be ideal, for him ... who wouldn't want to go in their sleep??!!
Reminds me of when you have your first baby ... and listen for it to breathe, but you don't want to wake it. He must sleep very soundly ... oh dear ... please do snore LD!
ps: I'm sure I told you before, but I love LD! Bless his heart ... and yours. :) :p"

What a sweet little baby!!!!! I've known that sensation. Living with the geriatric baby can be so stressful.

It's 10:00am and he's still sleeping. I've checked on his numerous times already this morning. I'd take a pic of this, but it's downright scary...
Yes, this is the hard part of living with these wonderful babies that have brought us so much joy and laughter. They have comforted us, now it's our turn to comfort them... Thanks guys!

He reminds me of a plump Twiggy. That he is eating well is a very important sigh of good health. Since he is deaf, he will sleep sounder than other dogs which can be scary.
They are priceless in our lives and we do what we can to keep them happy and by our sides.

he's so sweet, poor LD, I hate when old things quit making noise, scary!

I keep making noises for that very reason!!!

hahahahahaha TM, not a bad idea, for myself, to keep making noise! You CRACK me up!

Much love from a noisy old thing in California :D"

LD's a cutie! Our precious babies, oh, I feel for you. Our Chena, a 21 year-old-kitty, would curl into a ball and sleep and sleep. I'd get scared and rock her bed but she'd sleep on so I'd tap her a bit until she'd wake up and crinkle her nose, Let me sleep, Mom! Oh, how we love them! Do what you can! Enjoy the moments!
